The amount of pressure on the organiser of a major tournament to ‘get it right’ is phenomenal, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has made the 2019 Cricket World Cup look very efficient. Under the glare of constant media attention, this sporting fixture has impressed. And not just because of the nail-biting-chair-jumping-ridiculously-tense final.

Having worked alongside the ECB and ICC in recent years, we were over the moon when they used the Accredit platform for Accreditation for the biggest event in the cricketing calendar.

The operational challenge for mega events like this is extraordinary. Forty eight matches across eleven venues and nine locations across England and Wales.

Accrediting tens of thousands of clients, contractors and volunteers and collaborating with the National Accreditation Team (Police) to build a system integration for the ICC was a hugely rewarding experience.

In the end the Accredit platform processed 40,000 accreditations and registered over 180,000 security scans across the tournament.

And we definitely enjoyed the final!
