Meet Edwin Saayeng

Say hello to Edwin Saayeng

How did you start working with Accredit?

I was fortunate enough to work with Accredit as a client from 2016 to 2019 for the ICC events. We had a good relationship where both the organisation and myself grew together over those 4 years so made sense to continue that connection over the coming years.

What does your role entail at Accredit?

My role as Director of Major Events and Operations is to be involved in working with new clients delivering specialist events, whether that be a one-off event or an organisation delivering accreditation at a complex level. My role assists in ensuring the Accredit platform is used to deliver the requirements needed without having to build a system from scratch. My role is also to ensure my experience is fully utilised to help assist in bringing new clients on board with Accredit and helping them to understand how they can use the system to implement existing processes and implement new procedures.

Tell us something interesting about yourself?

I love sport and love to play sport, there came a point where sport no longer became just a general interest or hobby, but I now need to understand all sports as at any point it could be a potential client.

What is your biggest personal or professional achievements?

Delivering the accreditation project for the Cricket World Cup in 2019 and having a fantastic time doing it has got to be the biggest personal and business achievement. I will never forget my time on it and helping it to be such a success.

Who is the person you admire the most and why?

My mother, she has always been a hard worker, really grafts and makes no excuses. I am grateful for having the same approach and mindset.

How would your friends describe you?

Outgoing, friendly, approachable, communicative and competitive against myself.

How do you think the accreditation process for events will evolve in the coming year?

I believe we shall start to see things become more digital, when I first started in accreditation, individuals had to complete paper forms and photocopies of documents. I think there will come a point where we will no longer use physical documents like badges etc. Look at the process of flying and travel, Most of this is digitised now.

What is the most interesting project you have worked on in your time at Accredit?

ICC U19s World Cup 2022 – running an event across four different regions simultaneously with different requirements yet trying to maintain consistency definitely tests your experience and thinking.

What is your favourite functionality aspect of the Accredit platform?

The Matrix – using this tool to be able to define your registration forms, badge printing, security checks, and event management. It pretty much controls everything from a centralised point.

If you could spend 5 minutes with any person alive or dead who would it be and why?

Kobe Bryant – to be able to get a glimpse into his drive and determination to succeed.

Tell us a joke

To be honest, I don’t really have one….
